Position Overview: An MPH Heating-Hydronics and HVAC Controls Technician would be a highly skilled professional specializing in both heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems and hydronic heating systems (like hot water heating). They would also have expertise in HVAC control systems, including programming and troubleshooting automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

On-Going Scope: You will be working mostly in high-end custom residential homes. You will be responsible for everything from the initial rough in / wire pulls, to the final commissioning of the home's systems. Systems that consist of many zones of radiant heat, many zones of forced air heating and cooling, humidity, make up air, air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, multiple boilers, multiple fan coil units, snowmelt systems etc.
Hydronics: Installation, repair, and maintenance of hydronic heating systems, which use hot water or other fluids for heating. This includes boilers, pumps, radiators, and other related components.
HVAC/Boiler: control wiring and troubleshooting systems. Have a good understanding of electrical fundamentals and have firsthand ability to work safely and efficiently in an active construction environment.
HVAC Controls: Installation, programming, and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems, such as thermostats, programmable thermostats, and Building Management Systems (BMS). This may include working with various control protocols, third party integrations, and offsite monitoring resources.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Diagnosing and resolving problems within HVAC and hydronic systems, often requiring a strong understanding of thermodynamics, electrical systems, and plumbing.
System Optimization: You'll be pulling wire, installing conduits, building control boxes with relays and terminal blocks, mounting control boxes in mechanical rooms, wiring controls, programming controls, indexing actuators on valves, installing thermostats, testing / commissioning systems, troubleshooting systems, creating electrical diagrams of as built systems, etc.
You will complete quality assurance forms and checklists as the job progresses. Working to improve the efficiency and performance of HVAC and hydronic systems, which may include energy audits.
Safety Ambassador: You will play a crucial role in promoting and enforcing safety protocols in the field and office. Acting as leaders in establishing a culture of safety among our teams by actively monitoring compliance and leading by example. Performing safety training, communication, incident investigation, and reporting.
Customer Service: Communicating effectively within MPH departments and our clients to explain issues, provide solutions, and offer recommendations. Continued collaborations with other sub-contractors and companies, including audio/video/security companies on any integration aspects.

Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of HVAC and hydronic systems, control systems, and related technologies.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.

Physical Abilities: The ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in a management role within the plumbing, heating, or related service industry.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer-centric approach.
Proficient in scheduling software, billing systems, and phone management systems.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business management or a related field is preferred.
Apprenticeship or Trade School: Completion of an HVAC apprenticeship or trade school program is often preferred.
Continuing Education: Ongoing training and certification to stay current with industry standards and innovative technologies.
Relevant Certifications: EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification, HVAC certifications, and control systems certifications may be required or preferred.
